Leanne Mitchell defends poor chart position as The Voice tour may be scrapped

When Leanne Mitchell won The Voice a few weeks ago, most people were shocked to say the least. She’d been of the least written about and talked about contestants of the series, so we can’t say we were surprised to learn that the singer’s song - released in the wake of her win - only reached 45 in the download chart earlier this week, having only flogged an embarrassing 7,000 copies.

Now Leanne has spoken out to defend her chart position saying:

“It’s been a week and it hasn’t had a chance to do anything yet.”

But Leanne’s hoping the album will fair a little better – and we’ve got our fingers crossed for her as The Voice live tour sounds like it may be in a bit of trouble as well.

An established tour promoter has spoken out to raise concerns about organisers being able to fill 12 UK arenas with tickets being flogged at over £40 each. They said:

"Do they really think that they can sell 160,000 tickets at £40 a pop when they couldn't even keep people watching on the telly for free? Everyone is anticipating huge problems with this."

They continued: "Britain’s Got Talent had to admit defeat and pull the plug on the live tour in 2011 because the tickets hadn't sold – and their ratings were higher and more consistent than The Voice's."

Well, at least Leanne will always have her memories of her time on the show eh? That’s more than everybody else will have, that's for sure.
